In just the past year, govcon tools have changed a lot.
And we'll be the first to admit it's hard to keep up with everything that's out there.
So we rounded up 18 practical ways to put the latest govcon tools to work in FY27.
01 / PIPELINE · TIPS 1–5
Find the right FY27 opportunities faster
TIP 01
Tell GovTribe AI about your capabilities and current customers, then ask it to find three new buying offices worth pursuing. You'll get recommendations backed by recent contract awards, so you can see why each one might be a good fit.
Quick tip: Give GovTribe any company context you'd like it to consider, such as your capabilities, past performance, target agencies, or contract vehicles. You can always start simple and add details as you go.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Based on our capabilities in [area] and our current customers [agencies], find three new federal buying offices worth targeting. Use recent contract awards to explain why each is a good fit."
TIP 02
Tell GovTribe AI about your capabilities, target agencies, contract vehicles, and examples of work that's a good fit. It can build a starting pipeline of recommended opportunities for you to review and refine.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Help me build an FY27 pipeline based on our capabilities in [area], target agencies [agencies], and contract vehicles [vehicles]. Find good-fit opportunities and add them to a new pipeline for me to review."
TIP 03
Create a saved search for your market in GovTribe, then set up an automation to screen new matches against your must-haves and dealbreakers. You'll get a first-pass assessment of which opportunities are worth pursuing, investigating, or passing on.
Quick tip: Use the ready-made Saved-search opportunity triage template to get started faster.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Review new opportunities from this saved search against our eligibility, contract vehicles, target locations, contract size, and capabilities. Classify each as pursue, investigate, partner, or pass. Explain why and flag the strongest fits for our team to review."
You can also try GovTribe's other ready-made automation templates or build your own. And with Zapier integrations, you can connect GovTribe workflows to the tools your team already uses.
TIP 04
If you're on a supported contract vehicle, connect it to GovTribe. You'll be able to find, research, and analyze vehicle opportunities using the same GovTribe tools you already use for your other pursuits, including AI summaries. (Bonus: you'll have all your opportunities in one place.)
TIP 05
Ask GovTribe AI to look for potential recompetes at an agency you're targeting, using expiring contracts, agency forecasts, RFIs, and sources-sought notices. You'll get a shortlist of possible follow-on opportunities to investigate before the solicitation drops.
Quick tip: Save a search for promising leads so you can keep an eye on new notices as they appear.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Find potential recompetes at [agency] over the next 12–18 months. Check expiring awards, forecasts, RFIs, and sources-sought notices. Explain the evidence for each lead, distinguish confirmed plans from predictions, and suggest which opportunities are worth tracking."
02 / WORKFLOWS · TIPS 6–8
Make your tools work together and keep everything in sync
TIP 06
Connect GovTribe MCP to an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Claude, or to a custom application, and it gets access to GovTribe's tools and intelligence.
That means you can ask ChatGPT to update your pipeline, and it'll make the changes in GovTribe without you ever leaving the conversation.
And that's just the beginning. MCP also opens up ways to connect GovTribe with the other tools and information your team uses. Here are a few ways you could put that to work:
Give your AI assistant GovTribe's agent documentation so it can understand the available tools and how to use them. It's a good starting point if you want to build custom apps and workflows.
Explore agent docs →TIP 07
GovTribe knows the market. You know your team. GovTribe knows the requirements. You know your capabilities. When you bring both sides together, AI can give you much better support.
There are two ways to do it:
01 / GOVTRIBE AI
Work in GovTribe AI
Connect tools like Google Drive or Microsoft files to GovTribe. Then ask it to evaluate opportunities using your capability statements, past performance, and account notes alongside GovTribe's market intelligence.
02 / OTHER AI TOOLS
Work with your own AI assistant
Connect your team's Google or Microsoft files to ChatGPT, Claude, or another supported AI assistant, then connect GovTribe through MCP. Now your assistant can work with both your internal documents and GovTribe intelligence in the same conversation.
Quick tip: Start with a specific document or folder rather than giving AI access to everything. Only connect files your team has approved for that use.
TIP 08
Did someone on your team already research an agency, analyze a competitor, or create a capture brief? Don't make the next person repeat all that work. GovTribe makes it easy to share what you've learned:
03 / TEAMING · TIPS 9–12
Find and connect with potential teaming partners in GovTribe
AI and better tools can make a big difference in govcon. But winning government work still comes down to people and relationships.
That's why we created the GovTribe teaming network. You can now find contractors looking to team on specific opportunities, share what kind of partner you're looking for, and start conversations right in GovTribe.
You can connect as a prime looking for subcontractors or as a sub looking for a prime. And you don't have to reveal your company identity right away. Teaming profiles and initial messages are anonymous, and company identities are only revealed when a teaming request is accepted.
For a closer look at how it all works, check out our teaming guide.
Here are four ways to get started.
TIP 09
Find your company in GovTribe and claim your public vendor profile if you haven't already. You can update your information and contact details so your company is represented accurately.
TIP 10
From your profile menu, click View Profile, then scroll to the Capture Profiles section. Update your information so GovTribe can recommend more relevant teaming opportunities and automatically pre-fill details when you want to post interest in an opportunity.
TIP 11
Open an opportunity in GovTribe and click the Teaming button near the top of the page. You'll see contractors who have expressed interest in teaming on that specific pursuit, whether they’re primes looking for subs or subs looking for a prime. Review their anonymous profiles to see who might be a good fit, then reach out to start a conversation. (Again, you'll remain anonymous until you're ready to connect.)
TIP 12
Want to make the first move? Click the Teaming button at the top of the page and click Post your interest. Choose whether you're looking for subcontractors or want to join a team as a sub, then answer a few questions about what you bring to the pursuit. GovTribe will create an anonymous teaming profile so potential partners can find you and start a conversation.
04 / PROPOSALS · TIPS 13–15
Create and edit the files your proposal team needs
GovTribe can help you create all the files you need to support proposal work. Start with a ready-made template or build something from scratch, then edit the file side by side with AI until it's ready to use.
Here are three ways to put it to work.
TIP 13
Open an opportunity in GovTribe and ask it to create an Excel compliance matrix from the solicitation. Include each requirement, its source section, an assigned owner, and a status field. Then review the spreadsheet alongside your AI conversation, ask for changes, and download it for your proposal team.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Create an Excel compliance matrix from this solicitation. Include each requirement, its source section, a description, an owner column, and a status column. Flag anything that needs manual review."
TIP 14
Ask GovTribe to research an opportunity's buyer, incumbent, award history, competition, and key risks. Then have it turn the findings into a one-page Word document with source links, open questions, and suggested next steps. You'll have something your team can review and discuss without building the brief from scratch.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Research this opportunity and create a one-page Word brief for our next capture meeting. Include the buyer, incumbent, relevant award history, competitive landscape, key risks, open questions, and recommended next steps. Add source links for the important findings."
TIP 15
Ask GovTribe to create an Excel tracker with required deliverables, submission instructions, deadlines, responsible owners, and status columns. Use it as a working checklist to keep proposal prep organized.
Quick tip: Always verify the tracker against the official solicitation, especially deadlines and submission requirements.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Create an Excel proposal prep tracker from this solicitation. Include deliverables, due dates, submission instructions, source sections, owners, and status fields. Flag anything that needs manual verification."
Our guide walks through how to get started, how to use templates, how to make edits, and where to find your files later. It also explains what makes GovTribe different from general AI tools.

Catch red flags before they cost you time and resources
TIP 16
Before you commit to a pursuit, let AI make the case against it. Ask GovTribe to identify the three strongest reasons your team might want to pass, whether that's an eligibility issue, an incumbent advantage, a tight deadline, or a gap in your experience. Have it separate actual dealbreakers from assumptions you still need to investigate.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Play devil's advocate. What are the three strongest reasons we shouldn't bid on this opportunity? Separate confirmed dealbreakers from assumptions, and tell me what we should investigate before deciding."
TIP 17
It's easy to think an opportunity is a good fit because the scope sounds familiar. Before you get too far, compare the RFP's requirements against projects your team has actually delivered. Ask GovTribe to point to specific past-performance evidence for each match and flag anything you can't demonstrate yet.
Quick tip: Connect approved past-performance files to GovTribe, or use an AI assistant connected to both your company documents and GovTribe through MCP.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Compare this RFP's requirements with our past-performance documents. For each requirement, identify matching projects and cite the supporting evidence. Flag any requirements we can't clearly demonstrate."
TIP 18
Don't just read an amendment and move on. Let GovTribe AI compare it against the previous solicitation to see what actually changed, then turn those changes into action items for your team. Focus on anything that affects proposal sections, pricing, deadlines, or submission instructions.
Quick tip: Ask GovTribe to distinguish substantive changes from minor edits, then verify every affected requirement against the official amendment.
EXAMPLE PROMPT
"Compare this amendment with the previous solicitation. List the material changes, which proposal sections or deadlines are affected, and what our team needs to update. Include source references for each change."
Hopefully, a few of these ideas got you thinking about what you might try in FY27.
Whether it's a faster way to build your pipeline, connect with teaming partners, or prep materials for your next proposal, the goal is the same: find what makes your team's work a little easier.
Here's to a great FY27.
